The Influence of Shanghai-Kunming high speed railway on region economy-- a case study of Yunnan province

Abstract

The Shanghai-Kunming high-speed railway linked Shanghai and Kunming in Yunnan province in China. It is one of the "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed railway main line in China's Medium - and Long-term Railway Network Planning. This paper will study the impact of Shanghai-Kunming high-speed railway on Yunnan's economy. There are few studies on the impact of Shanghai-Kunming high-speed railway on Yunnan's economy. This study will deeply explore the specific aspects of high-speed railway's impact on Yunnan's economic development. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the impact of the completion of Shanghai-Kunming high-speed railway on the economic development of Yunnan Province and its major impacts. The second one is according to the impact of the completion of the high-speed rail on Yunnan's economy. In-depth analysis of the impact of high-speed railway on less developed regions. and put forward suggestions for the high-speed railway to better promote regional economic development. This paper used the DID model to analyze. Based on the research, this paper got the following main conclusions. The opening of Shanghai-Kunming high-speed railway has significantly promoted the growth of regional economy in Yunnan. The opening of the Shanghai-Kunming high-speed railway has promoted the increase of foreign direct investment (FDI), residents' income, research and development. In a certain period of time, the opening of the Shanghai-Kunming high-speed railway has no positive effect on the development of tourism, employment and the primary industry. Summarize the experience of high-speed rail operation and regional accessibility and other factors. The construction of new high-speed railway lines in Yunnan Province will form a regional network in Yunnan, which will drive the economic development of Yunnan as a whole.
