Abstract: This study examines the transformation of "knowledge" in Thai society through the travelogue from the traditional era to the late twenty-first century in order to demonstrate travel knowledge formations throughout time that differ depending on the gazes, ideologies, mentalities, and emotions of each governmental era. Findings demonstrate that knowledge formations in travelogues vary with the altering of power. In the traditional era, the discomfort of voyage was primarily narrated through the loss of loved ones. the purpose of voyages transformed. In the early era of the Chakri Dynasty, with the expansion of trade and economy, Thai poetry was composed in a more empirical and pleasurable manner, as well as providing a way of life. Following the signing of the Bowring Treaty, changes in the new world order generated an orderly division of time as well as the transformation of modern knowledge which gave a realistic vision. This also established the specific power and imagined colonial state of Siam that linked people as a subject of the "civilized" king, on par with other Western colonials. This phenomenon affected the definition and mentality of "citizen," who was capable of modernizing the state, which led to the revolution in 1932. The travelogue on the post-revolutionary era reflects the efforts to create an understanding of democracy and also the "habit" of the civilians who led the country toward modernity. The 1950s industrialization was a crucial phase in which travel knowledge evolved from a tool to guide the country toward modernity to a knowledge of journey within a tourism sector that would help develop newly industrialized nations. Simultaneously, the collaboration of envisioned nation and tourist attractions were employed to promote the tourism industry. The rapid changes of urbanization and social problems were reflected in travelogues in the 1980s and 1990s, which began to demand that both government and people recuperated the values of virtue rather than the ideology of "economic animals," that were enamor materials, in order to solve social problems, such as corruption and environmental issues. The potential to regulate travel knowledge has shifted from the government and capitalists to individuals during the 2000s. Independent travelers have created "traveler identity" in order to temporarily leave their own safe zone and create a variety of experiences, while also assembling "entrepreneurial self," which promotes consideration of thoughts, identities, and emotions among travelers. This special knowledge not only occurs throughout the journey, but it also becomes knowledge that directs their own journal life.
