Abstract: The purpose of this research was to study the rehabilitation process of people who had suffered from a fatal accident, lost their organs, and became disabled. This research utilized a qualitative case study research methodology. The main informant groups consisted of four people who had suffered from a fatal accident, lost their organs, became type 3 disabled (a mobility impairment), and had been injured for at least one year and five months. The data were collected by using in-depth interviews along with the application of semi-structured questions. Collected data were verified by utilizing a triangular data validation method and were analyzed by using a content analysis method. The results indicated that the four informants revealed the qualitative data regarding the process of recovery after encountering a fatal accident, dismemberment, and became persons with disabilities. The data consisted of 4 aspects: the causes of stress, the fragility factor, the preventive factor, and the rehabilitation. The researcher had explained the process through three main theories: the theory of persons with disabilities, the theory of loss and mourning, and the theory of rehabilitation. In addition, the researcher had found something new about the recovery process, which was the adaptation after becoming disabled and the feeling of alienation towards society. Based on the results of this study, the researcher discussed the results by using the recovery model of integrity with the understanding of the positive growth after becoming disabled along with the interpretation from the researcher's point of view. It suggested that each key informant had a different background before encountering a fatal accident and became disabled. However, a shared experience had been established among each of them through the accident and acted as a guide leading them to overcome the crisis. The story of the key informants may be an inspiration and an encouragement to those who are facing hardship to have the strength to continue living.
