Title: Preparation and characterization of Bronze-TiO2 composite with Tin and Silica for use as high-performance anode materials in Lithium-ion Batteries

Abstract: Recently, one of anode materials development trend for lithium-ion batteries is focused on titanium dioxide, especially TiO2(B), due to its fast-charging ability and stability. However, its specific capacity and conductivity are lower than other anode materials. To overcome these issues, this work aims to prepare the TiO2(B) composited with rice husk-derived SiO2 and Sn by recrystallization and chemical reduction method. Phase characterization of pure TiO2(B) can be indexed as the monoclinic structure. After SiO2 was added into TiO2(B), amorphous SiO2 pattern cannot be observed in XRD pattern of all composites. When Sn was merged into SiO2/TiO2(B) composite, it was found that some peaks of Sn and TiO2(B) co-existed. In term of the morphological analysis, SiO2 and Sn particles were noticed as small spherical shape which distributed on TiO2(B) rods. For the electrochemical analysis, the 10%Sn-10%SiO2/TiO2(B) composite presented the highest capacity of 143.57 mAh g -1 together with coulombic efficiency of 99.91% at highrate performance of 5000 mA g -1 for long cycle life of 500 cycles. However, some agglomerations of SiO2 nanoparticles were observed, resulting in low capacity in SiO2/TiO2(B) composite. This work suggested that the 10%Sn-10%SiO2/TiO2(B) composite could be a good alternative material for use as an anode material in lithiumion batteries.
