Abstract

This is qualitative research case study method. The aims to study conditions and impacts of burnout in child protective service workers. The purposive sampling has been used in this study. Key Informants were 5 high burnout score child protective services workers in public and private child welfare organizations and experiencing working with abused children more than 1 year. Data were collected by in-depth interviews and participant observation. Triangulation was used as a validation through content and context analysis. The results revealed that the conditions of burnout in child protective service workers were 1) Personal conditions including personality, attitude, education, work experiences, and family 2) Work conditions including workplace, job functions about working for helping child abuse, workload and high responsibility, and conflict of roles, personal relationship, and organizational system that system and manager unsupported, lack of career advancement and low pay, and lack of crew front line and miss encourage staff. As mentioned above, these conditions were able to lead children protective service workers to a lack work satisfaction and motivation. Burnout in child protective service workers will affected 1) the physical and mental health and behaviors of workers who helped abused children as they risk to depression and were experiencing compassion fatigue. 2) abused children might receiving lower quality of services, and colleagues and family members were experiencing relationship problems with workers. 3) organizations received lower quality work and losing efficient worker.
