Abstract: | This Quasi-Experimental Research with Pre Test- Post Test Control Group Design aims to study effects of eclectic group counseling based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Trotzer’s group counseling on self-compassion. The participants were eighteen students with maladaptive perfectionist tendencies participated in this research. Translated Revised Almost Perfect Scale (Slaney, Rice, Mobley, Trippi, and Ashby, 2001) was used as a questionnaire to included participants. The participants were divided into two groups including experimental group (n=9) and control group (n=9). Participants in experimental group were participated in eight sessions of eclectic group counseling. Each session lasted approximately 1.5 hours. On the other hand, the participants in control group were not received the intervention during experimental process. Descriptive statistic, Shapiro-Wilk test and t-test were used in data analysis. The results revealed that the participants in experimental group had self-compassion score significantly higher in posttest compared with pretest at the .01 level. In addition, the posttest score of experimental group was found significantly higher than the posttest score of the control group at the .01 level. |
