Abstract: © 2020 IEEE. The Chinese language education in primary school in Thailand has achieved remarkable results as a result of the mass promotion. At the same time, a variety of reasons have led to Thai students' insufficient Chinese language proficiency. Consequently, to propose the reason that causes the difficulties in Chinese characters learning of Thai elementary students is beneficial for the further development of Chinese language teaching in Thailand. In this article, design thinking will be used as an approach to identifying the difficult root cause. From a developmental perspective, this article would be particularly useful for Chinese teachers to teach Thai elementary learners.
