Abstract

Searching for cultural-specific words on the ThaiLIS database still does not show the desired results. Since most users tend to search using subject headings and keywords which tend to produce various results without any connection between them. The purpose of this research is to develop a semantic web for Lanna research and related thesis. By developing ontology to link and categorize the vocabulary within the boundary of Lanna. Research shows that ontologies help to produce accurate and relevant search results. Moreover, ontologies are able to propose research and thesis under the category as an alternative to users who may not know the specific words in Lanna dialects. Results of the semantic web search efficiency by librarians is 86 percent effective. And result of the satisfaction evaluation by users found that users are satisfied with the system and satisfied with the benefits of the system are very satisfied.
