Abstract

The objectives of this research are to examine logistics costs which affect maize production in Chiang Mai, Lampang and lamphun provinces, and analyze farmers’ adaptation on the effects of logistics costs by using Conditional Logit model. Collecting data used questionnaire and interview 400 samples on February to March 2014. Logistics costs that affect farmers are transporting equipment costs, storage space costs, inventory service costs, communication costs and administration costs. The analysis of maize farmers’ adaptation revealed that if transporting equipment costs, storage space costs, inventory service costs, communication costs and administration costs increase, there will be an increase of information searching. If storage space costs, inventory service costs, communication costs and administration costs increase, farmers will adjust or change production procedures. If storage space costs, communication costs and administration costs increase, farmers will change to other variety of plants or another plants.
