Abstract: This independent study aimed at studying the factors that affected happiness at work and studying the level of happiness at work of front of the house employees at hotels in Chiang Mai Province. The subjects for the study consisted of 257 front of the house hotel employees in Chiang Mai Province. The data was collected from self- administered questionnaire. The questionnaire was designed to collect 4 types of data: personal demographic information, opinions on factors which led to happiness at work, opinions on achieving the potential, and attitudes towards happiness. The data was analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, independent – sample T – test, analysis of variance: ANOVA, Scheffe and Linear Regression. The results of the study showed that the majority of the questionnaire respondents were female, 21 – 30 years old, single, with Bachelor’s degree. Most of them worked in Food and Beverage department, at levels 1 and 4, and had been working for more than 5 years. They worked 50 hours per week and never used sick leave. They planned to work with the hotel for 5 years. Happiness at work of front of the house hotel employees in Chiang Mai was at the high level, which was related to their opinion toward the overall happiness at work and the personal achieving potential towards the highest level. The respondents agreed with all of the factors. The most important happiness factors at the workplace were commitment, followed by conviction, contribution, culture and confidence. From Linear Regression analysis, it was found that generally, the factors affecting happiness at work related to main characteristics that affected happiness. The factor of commitment had the most prediction power, followed equally by culture, confidence, contribution, and conviction. It was also found that pride, trust, and recognition related positively to the highest potential and efficiency at work. The personal factors significantly related to happiness at work were gender, educational level, working department. and career planning at the level of 95%, while age, marital status, position level, working hours, sick leave days and service year were significantly correlated to happiness at work.
