Abstract: © 2020, Chiang Mai University. All rights reserved. In this study, the key factors affecting the adsorption efficiency of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) such as solvent type, contact time, adsorbent dosage, initial pH of solution and temperature of solution by amine-functionalized magnesium ferrite nanoparticles were investigated. The highest 2,4-D removal efficiency (~56%) were obtained at the optimum condition: methanol as a solvent, 30 mg of adsorbent dosage, 60 minutes of adsorption time, pH ~3 and 25 °C. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy was also used to confirm the successful adsorption of adsorbate molecules on the surface of adsorbent. In addition, the adsorbent performance in term of reusability was also investigated.
