Abstract: Rehabilitation services that fulfill the true needs of people with disabilities can enhance good quality of life of these individuals. People with physical disabilities are increasing in numbers in Thailand. Purpose of this study was to investigate rehabilitation needs of persons with physical disabilities in Maefak Sub-district, Sansai District, Chiang Mai Province. Ninety one participants were recruited by purposive sampling into the study. Instruments used were Socio-demographic Record Form and The Rehabilitation Needs of People with Disabilities Questionnaires. Data was collected by interviewing. Statistics used were mean, frequency and percentage Results demonstrated that participants had variety requirement in 5 areas of rehabilitation including medical treatment, education, social welfare, vocational training, environmental modification and educational services. The highest need of these participants was budget for environmental modification supported by the government (95.6%). Secondly was the convenient accessibility to social welfare information for people with disabilities (93.4%). Third was the requirement of medical services in areas of community-based rehabilitation and home visit conducted by health professional (92.3%). Fourth was the need for vocational counseling (65.9 %). Educational service was the least requirement among the five areas in rehabilitation for people with disabilities in this study. Free education was the most wanted issue for these participants (40.7 %). Results from this study would be of great benefit to policy makers and health professionals to improve or develop rehabilitation system to use in Maefak Sub-district, Sansai District, Chiang Mai Province or elsewhere in order to fulfil the real needs of people with disabilities.
